Premium template FAQ for new Zen Cart users

The first thing you should do after downloading our premium template is go through the included README file. It does not matter if you’re new to Zen Cart or not, the readme file will provide you with tips and admin settings to make the template look really good.

This site has been around for a couple of years, and based on feedback from our users and our own tests, we can assure you that all the premium templates will work properly as intended.

If it is your first time installing a Zen Cart template, please continue reading the contents below — the compilation of some questions we have received over the years from first-time Zen Cart users. If you have already installed Zen Cart templates before, you should already be familiar with all of them.

  1. There are no links on the top menu bar?
    The top menu bar is controlled by Ez-Pages in your admin area, which is a standard feature of Zen Cart. You can use Ez-Pages to add/edit/sort/remove any links or pages. Please see the official Zen Cart Ez-Pages tutorial or see our guide:

  2. I cannot see the banner images as shown in your demo?
    Banners are uploaded and managed using your admin area. If you are not familiar with Zen Cart’s Banner Manager feature, please see the readme file for the steps.
  3. After uploading, I can’t see the option to choose the template in the admin area?
    Not frequently asked, but we have received this question a few times by first-time Zen Cart users. And all were caused by uploading the template folder to the wrong location on the server, or uploading the wrong folder.

    UnZip to your PC first, and then make sure you upload the template folder. There are files that should not be uploaded — for example, the Photoshop source files are for your reference and not meant to be uploaded to your server (see the readme file).

    Basically, all our templates are installed the same way as any other Zen Cart template.

  4. The template does not look like the demo at all?
    We have also been asked about this a few times. Also, all by first-time Zen Cart users.

    Make sure you have already uploaded to the correct location on your server.

    Also, when you choose a template in your admin area, don’t click the “new language” button. Just click “edit” then choose the template you want to activate (same steps as shown in the readme file).
